The 5,272-capacity Royal Albert Hall, a venue steeped in British boxing history, hosted a high-stakes, all-female card that saw Lauren Price dominate Natasha Jonas to become a unified world champion. The crowd, split evenly between men and women, enjoyed the spectacle in plush, cushioned seats, with the atmosphere buzzing despite the regal surroundings.
In the main event, 30-year-old welterweight Lauren Price outpointed the 40-year-old Jonas in a decisive 10-round battle. Price’s speed, sharpness, and youthful energy overwhelmed Jonas, who struggled with her timing throughout the fight. At the final bell, Price’s jubilant celebrations contrasted with Jonas’ deflated demeanor.
The judges scored the bout 98-93, 100-90, and 98-92 in favor of Price, in what was a virtuoso performance that cemented her status as an elite-level fighter. With the win, Price retained her WBA title and added Jonas’ WBC and IBF belts to her collection in just her ninth professional fight.
Price, an Olympic gold medalist, called for an undisputed title shot against the winner of the upcoming bout between WBO champion Mikaela Mayer and Sandy Ryan. “Tash is one of the best in the division, I honestly believe I can become undisputed,” said Price. “I want to go on and create a great legacy.”
Jonas, a two-weight world champion, suffered her third loss in 19 professional bouts, leaving her career in limbo. She suggested that she may consider retiring after her setback.
