
It was confirmed on Friday, January 31, 2024 that Golden Boy Promotions CEO and Chairman Oscar de la Hoya has signed four new prospects to his roster filling the gaps in the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions. Marking the beginning of a new era in their respective divisions and include the re-signing of blue-chip cruiserweight prospect Tristan “Sweet T” Kalkreuth (14-1, 10 KOs), top-rated cruiserweight Robin “Robz” Safar (17-0, 12 KOs), undefeated heavyweight prospect Federico Pacheco Jr. (7-0, 5 KOs), and 2023 Pan American Games gold medalist and 2024 Olympian Joshua “Good” Edwards.

“The heavyweight division hasn’t been this hot in decades,” said De La Hoya. “Every single one of these prospects has the potential to become a world champion in the heavier divisions. Nobody builds champions better than Golden Boy, and I’m extremely excited to get into the mix of the heavyweight division.”
Robin “Robz” Safar (17-0, 12 KOs) has emerged as a rising star in the cruiserweight division, overcoming adversity to carve out an impressive undefeated record. Under the guidance of trainer Ibn Cason, the younger brother of former heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman, Safar honed his skills and developed into a formidable fighter. His breakout moment came in the summer of 2024 when he dominated former light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev, a victory that solidified his place as a serious contender. Now ranked in the top 15 by two major sanctioning bodies, Safar is on the brink of a world title shot.
Federico Pacheco Jr. (7-0, 5 KOs) is a rising 21-year-old heavyweight prospect from Los Angeles, quickly making waves in the division. Trained by Omar Villanueva, Pacheco is known for his power and commanding ring presence. The younger brother of top contender Diego Pacheco, he is determined to build his own legacy in the sport. Despite a limited amateur background, he gained invaluable experience sparring with elite heavyweights like Zhilei Zhang, Frank Sanchez, and Arslanbek Makhmudov. With his relentless work ethic and growing reputation, Pacheco is on a fast track to becoming a serious contender.
Tristan “Sweet T” Kalkreuth (14-1, 10 KOs) has re-signed with Golden Boy, continuing his rise as a top cruiserweight prospect. Hailing from Duncanville, Texas, Kalkreuth began boxing at age 9 under his father’s guidance, amassing over 100 amateur fights and winning two USA Boxing national titles. Since turning pro in 2019, he has showcased his power with a strong knockout record against tough opposition, solidifying his reputation as a rising force in the division.
Joshua “Good” Edwards, the No. 1 USA Boxing-ranked heavyweight, is a 24-year-old powerhouse from Southside Houston with his sights set on world championship glory. A 2023 Pan American Games gold medalist, he made history by defeating Cuban champion Abner Teixeira, becoming only the second American to claim super heavyweight gold at the event. This victory secured his spot on Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics. A 2021 USA Boxing national champion, Edwards trains under Ronnie Shields and Melvin Malone in Houston.
