The fight between Vergil Ortiz Jr (21-0, 21 KOs) and Serhii Bohachuk (24-1, 23 KOs) has been a developing story over the past few weeks. The Ukrainian champion, known for his speed and punching power, is favored to retain his crown this Saturday.

Bohachuk became a potential opponent for Ortiz after former WBO world junior middleweight titleholder Tim Tszyu withdrew from the scheduled fight at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on August 3rd. Tszyu was not medically cleared by doctors due to a cut along his hairline sustained during his March 30 bout against Sebastian Fundora, which has not properly healed.

Vergil Ortiz Jr.

  • Strengths: Known for his power and aggression, Ortiz has a perfect knockout record in his professional career. His relentless pressure and ability to cut off the ring are significant advantages.
  • Weaknesses: His aggressive style can leave him open to counters, and he sometimes takes unnecessary risks to land power shots.

Serhii Bohachuk

  • Strengths: Bohachuk is recognized for his speed, punching power, and technical skills. His ability to control the distance and pace of the fight makes him a formidable opponent.
  • Weaknesses: While powerful, Bohachuk’s defense can be exploited, and he has shown vulnerability to high-pressure fighting styles in the past.

The fight is likely to be a high-action bout with both fighters having clear paths to victory. Ortiz’s relentless pressure and knockout power make him a dangerous opponent, but Bohachuk’s speed and technical prowess give him a solid chance if he can maintain his distance and avoid getting drawn into a brawl.

The show is scheduled for this Saturday, August 10 and begins at 8:00 p.m. ET. The main event starts at around 11:00 p.m. ET, all on DAZN. Presented by Golden Boy Promotions.
